Pete hoekstra parents are priceless

Pete hoekstra parents are priceless, Congressman Pete Hoekstra and his wife, Diane, have been selected to receive the fourth annual Parents are Priceless award later this month for their community service and dedication to their family.

Pete Hoekstra served as a U.S. Congressman in the 2nd District from 1993 to 2011. He was chairman of the House Select Committee on Intelligence for two and a half years.

Each year, Life Services Parent Center recognizes someone who displays commitment to his or her role as parent as well as to the community.

“It has been said that parenting is the hardest job in the world. It’s only right that we take a night to celebrate parents,” a statement from the Life Services Parents Center said.

They will be honored at an April 23 gala dinner by Salt and Pepper at Deanna’s Playhouse.

Parents are Priceless award winners are chosen based on a broad range of criteria involving parenting skills and community service. Nominations are made by community members.

“Pete and Diane Hoekstra have dedicated their lives to raising their children, supporting their community and honoring their country. For over 18 years during the weekdays, Pete would head off to Washington, D.C., and Diane would begin her job as chief in charge of all community and children’s activities. Their children learned their work ethic, their values and their love of God and country,” a statement from the Life Services Parent Center said.

Each year at the “parents are priceless” gala, Life Services Parent Center showcases the importance of parents. Past winners include Dr. James and Dorothy Chamness, Rebecca Arenas and the Revs. Wes and Karen-Granberg-Michaelson.

“Every day at the Parent Center and Playhouse, we see many young parents struggling to be effective parents while balancing the challenges of work and finding time to help friends and community. Trying to juggle multiple roles can be exhausting. Pete and Diane are very deserving of this award! They have managed a very demanding public life as a U.S. Congressman for 18 years while also raising their three children, Erin, Allison and Bryan,” said Deanna DePree, executive director of Deanna’s Playhouse/Life Services Parent Center.

Proceeds from the gala support the center and Deanna’s Playhouse.
