SK Kynix is going to be licensing memory-related patents and also the right to certain dynamic random access memory products. As per the settlement in return for the DRAM product license, Hynix will pay Rambus $12 per quarter ($240M total) over five years.
All outstanding legal claims between the two companies have been resolved, and no other terms were disclosed.
Everything began way back in 2000, and it has been ongoing ever since.
In Sept. 2012, a California federal judge ruled that the patents at issue for Rambus in the case were valid. The judge also ruled that Hynix should pay Rumabus royalties for any sort of past infringement.
