Ventura, who just returned to the United States from his temporary home in Mexico, spoke of the possibility of a personal presidential run as an independent candidate while he was at the state Capitol in Minnesota on Friday to celebrate the retirement of a veteran gubernatorial bodyguard.
The former one-term governor of Minnesota who has been out of politics for about ten years believes the pending presidential race is an “opportune time” for him – as an independent candidate – to run since there will obviously be no incumbent running for the White House since President Barack Obama is in his second term and cannot run for the office again.
Ventura went on to say that he has thought about a vice presidential candidate and has already approached famed-radio shock jock Howard Stern to consider running with him as his vice presidential running mate.
Jesse Ventura - real name James George Janos - was the 38th governor of Minnesota, serving from 1999 to 2003. Besides a politician, the 61-year-old is a Vietnam veteran, actor, author, and former professional wrestler.
